The purpose of ClassicDota

ClassicDota aims to be a list of "must watch" professional Dota 2 games. We're simply looking for the best and most interesting games ever - ones that you want to tell your friends about, and could watch over and over again. This could be for many reasons such as a game that's nail-bitingly close, a game showcasing an unorthodox new strategy, or a game that's very significant in the history of pro Dota 2.

Our listing criteria

• Must be an awesome and interesting game. We're not looking for 'meh' or 'alright'
• Should be a match between two professional Dota 2 teams
• The full game replay (without unnecessary edits) must be available on a public video site, for example YouTube
• In most cases, the game should be have commentary in English by a caster (replays in additional languages are a bonus)
• In most cases, the game should be part of a recognised pro Dota 2 tournament with prize money

These criteria are somewhat flexible, we're more interested in listing amazing games than in having strict rules. For example we'll happily consider listing an all-star match with individual pro players. We list single games rather than full series, but multiple games from a series can be listed if they fit our criteria.

Our history and personnel

The site is a continuation of the original Google Docs list of must-watch Dota 2 games by Paul (Sir_Brags_A_Lot). He is the main administrator of the site and the games list.

The site was developed by and is hosted by Richard West, a freelance developer with an interest in pro Dota.

We hope this site is a cool gift for people developing an interest in the pro Dota 2 scene, and for the Dota community at large. It's hopefully a lot friendlier to browse than the original spreadsheet, and is easier to maintain (we automatically scrape most game details via the Steam API).
